Vikas Muley's daughter' s marriage

Today on 22nd May, I with my family attended the marriage of Mithila Muley (to become Mithila Abhiram Supekar) - daughter of Vikas Muley. Vikas was my colleague in Bombay Dyeing and Mfg Co at DMT plant (BDMC DMT). It dates back to 1984-85. It was that time when Vikas joined BDMC DMT. There was lot joined from Pune.like N V Joshi, S P Hasabnis, Milind Deshmukh, Vikas Muley. Hasabnis and Joshi were married and all others were bachelor. Other team members were Deepak Mhatre, Sanjay Joshi, Kiran Teredesai, Ninad Patil and Vishwanath Sangrulkar. The first one to get married among ourselves was Vikas. I remember that time Vikas was the one who got good exotic house in Konkan Bhavan. We had grand party one evening at his house. That time Konkan Bhavan was not so populated. We had good time at BDMC DMT. It was indeed great team work. The Pune team members used to talk a lot about Pune. The first time I went to Pune was in 1985 for Milind's marriage. That time Pune was quiete. I remember till cylcles wre seen prominently in Pune. I didi not like PMT buses as they were dirty and not so good as against BEST in Mumbai. As I mentioned Vikas probably was first to get married among our bachelor group. I still remember with Vikas I had gone to Delhi and to Kashipur for job interview. He had come to my place in worli - we have had luch and after luch we took Rajdhani and went to Delhi and from Delhi when we took bus to Kashipur - it was disaster. We were not used to the kind of system in north. It was December month. It was foggy, dusty and chilled whether there. The bus stands were so dirty - we took bus to Kashipur - we stayed in Kashipur hotel and even after taking 2 -3 RAJAIs the chill was still persisting and entering into bone. Next day we woke up and instead of going to their factory of India Glycol we took bus back to Delhi and did sight seeing and came back to Mumbai. We had no doubt in our mind that Mumbai and Maharsahtra is the best option for staying and working. Later I left BDMC and joined Centak Chemicals while after few years I left BDMC, Vikas left and joinded Supreme Petrochem in Nagothane. He came once again in touch with me - this time as ex colleague and customer. The contacts were established again but not as thick as it was in BDMC days. Lot of water had flown under the bridge.

Today on the wedding day of his daughter, I recollected all those memories of good old days. ALmost more than 20 years passed. Time has changed. With time everybody went on with his own life. There was time when we were together and later in due course we separated to the extent that hardly we were in touch and again it is time who brought us together but with its own effect. I could meet Naik from BDMC and I could meet Milind Deshmukh. No other colleagues from BDMC could come. I contacted them - butDeepak was in pehelgam, Ninad in Alibag, Sanjay Joshi in his own assignment - no information about Shedge and P S Sawant. I thoght that this could be one of  the opportunity to meet old colleagues again. It is always nice to meet old friends and relatives. You cannot go back in time but with friends and relatives who meet after gap of big time lapse you can go doen the memory lane.

See the strange dices of destiny. The Pune team that joined BDMC is no more staying in Pune for instance Hasabnis is now settled in Mumbai, Vikas in Konkan Bhavan, Milind does has flat in Pune but for so many years he is in Indonesia. Look at me - I was Mumbaikar basically and now settled in Pune. Life's course is really unpredictable and strange.

Vikas was very busy in the marriage. I actually wanted to talk to him but today was special day. We could hardly exchange regards. I realized that time has taken its own course. Vikas was the first one to marry among our group so obviously it was his siblings to get married first. That means this process will start for all of us. One generation is getting older - Vikas is bold enough to shine his silver hairs as crown. New generation is taking up now. Slowly we will go behind the screen of the time.Philosophical thoughts started streaming into my mind. Why do we become old? What makes us old? Is it time? We say that time is linear and that once passed will not come back nut Eisenstein has proved that time is not linear and that you can go back and forth in time - but he has proved in theoretically. If not time then is that gravitational pull that makes you old? Gravitational pull cannot be seen. It is stated by Eisenstein that if out two brothers - at the age of say 10 years,  one remains on earth and one goes out in space on another planet far off and if they meet on earth after 50 years the brother on earth would be 60 years old and the one who return would be hardly 20 years by then! Or getting old is process occurring because of combination of time and gravity?

It was good time. I could meet Vikas, I could meet Milind. I missed my Panvel team. I could meet Supreme Petrochem team. I had good lunch and afterwards I stepped out of the hall when I realized that while I am stepping down the steps I am at the same time climbing up the steps of time up towards the future to get older and older.
